We need your help to protect Indiana hospitals during this year’s legislative session.
Special interest groups are pushing legislation that would allow insurance companies to pick apart individual hospitals and physicians in contract negotiations. These measures will not improve health care in Indiana but would instead allow big insurance companies to pad their record profits, which have skyrocketed.
If hospital systems or physicians cannot negotiate as a group, insurers will pick and choose who they want to contract with. This will leave doctors and hospitals out of network, leading to more surprise bills and less access to care in rural and underserved areas.
Hoosier hospitals and caregivers are on the frontlines providing care and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Insurance companies are on the sidelines, racking up record profits. This is not the time to harm hospitals by interfering in private contracting.
Please contact your state lawmakers and ask them to protect hospitals and oppose measures that would harm hospitals in the middle of a pandemic and put patient access at risk.
