Clinical Director at the Indiana Patient Safety Center, Annette Handy, RN, shares with you an update on how Covid-19 spreads. It is thought to spread from person to person, between people who are in close contact with each other – which is about six feet. The coronavirus is spread through respiratory droplets and recent studies show that the virus can be spread by those who are not showing symptoms. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure. Given these points, practicing ‘safe six’, or keeping a social distance of about six feet from others – is very important to help prevent the spread of the virus.
