Hoosiers have more chronic conditions – such as diabetes – than people in many other states. Not only are chronic conditions hard on the people who have them, they drive up the cost of premiums for employers and employees. A recent study done by the nationally known Lewin Group looked at the savings if Indiana were to get to just “average” in three key public health metrics — smoking, diabetes, and obesity.
